2019 Recap

I have nothing but love for 2019. I look forward to 2020 with a lot of gratitude and hopes.

First, Justin took up a job 1335 miles from home. We rang in 2019 in freezing Lake Placid, NY. We sold our country house in Virginia, packed up everything, and moved south to unknown territories. We stopped and enjoyed Nashville on the way. Patriots won another Super Bowl. One of my best friends got married in New Orleans. Soon after we moved into a temporary apartment, Jameson got hit by a car and dodged a bullet from it just fine. We bought a new construction home right away. I got a job working two different offices full time. We flew to Boston for Roderick’s 40th birthday bash. We took up hot yoga. I started That Deaf Girl Vlogs. We spent our 6 year anniversary back in Bluemont, VA where we got married. I became pregnant with our first child. I began Birthfit workouts in our garage gym. My dear mother had a double stroke and miraculously, thankfully survived. I began to find out scary things were happening during my pregnancy and fell into a dark place for a while but also had so many positives moving forward. We moved into our brand new home. We did a maternity shoot in heart of Waco, Texas. We saw Joe Rogan and ZBB live. We explored so much of the Fort Worth/Dallas area and have new found love for it. Thanksgiving was spent in Houston with our good friend Holly and the boys. We had an awesome remote Baby Shower. Justin received a promotion and took up Brazilian jiu jitsu. We enjoyed our first warm Christmas in Texas with Justin’s sister and our nephew.

I know there’s so many more I could add on to this blog post.

I could not think of a better way to close out the year than spend our last night alone with the three pups, surf and turf dinner and a brownie gnocchi with ice cream dessert.

This year has taught me many wonderful lessons. I’m thankful for the extreme hardships and amazing blessings.

2020, let’s do this!

Moving and What’s Happening in 2020

Hi there! I know. It’s been awhile. Life has gotten a little crazy lately.

First, I can’t stand my awful apartment and miss having room in my kitchen to cook and bake up a recipe. I also would like all my kitchen gadgets back from the storage. It makes me nervous we haven’t gone through our stuff that we’ve left in storage. Some of our stuff broke during the move. Sentimental things. Kind of a downer right? We also soon realized shortly after the move, they broke one of our brand new sectional couch piece. Luckily, we had insurance but with a $500 deductible to get it repaired. (Face plant) Good lawd. It looks better than ever and I made it stay downstairs. Safely in the garage that takes up our gym space. I think in our brand new house we’re going to move the couch ourselves. Sorry Justin!

Speaking of the new house, we get to close July 31st! I can not wait for this! My mega kitchen is my favorite part of the house. Wait til I flood social media with pictures and cooking blogs! Just you wait!

I won’t lie. Living in beautiful Virginia was wonderful and the best part of my life. As painful as it was to leave, I’m truly excited for the next door to open, new adventures happening, and so much to live for.

We’ve got some exciting news. Remember in my last blog 6 Things for 6 years I said that next year will be our best year yet? Did anyone notice something different on my IG stories? We’ve been really busy! Well I’ve been busy sleeping a lot. Like lots.

I’ve been casted to be a part of the new Disney’s Sleeping Beauty movie that will be coming out next year!

Just kidding.

Watch below to see what the joke is all about! And I’ll leave it just right here. See you next time.

Highlights from Dallas, Texas

There’s always a first time for everything. When I say Texas is a culture shock, that’s a first. I’m a huge traveler and have seen crazy parts of the world. This place is so different among others for many reason. It’s flat, spread out, and the vibe here is different. But beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There are locals and even tourists who think it’s beautiful. I always say don’t judge a book by it’s cover. There are places yet uncovered and unseen. There are places that have amazing eats and sites to see! Below are some of the places we went for a quick get away.

HG Sply Co – This is a place for all you Crossfitters, Paleo eaters, health nut foodies, etc. I absolutely adored this place. Their drinks are so good. I got their “Double Under” which is beet-infused tequila drink and am itching to go back for a second drink. Many of their drinks have some sort of veggie or fruit infused. Their food menu is so healthy yet so filling. Simple and clean. They can even be prepared gluten and dairy-free.

Joe T’s – It’s basically a restaurant with no menu that fills an entire city block. Order your fajitas or enchiladas, pitcher of darn good margaritas or one with a corona bottle in it. No problemas.

Snooze Eatery – If you enjoy brunch, this place has the best, lightest, fluffiest pancakes I’ve ever had. We got their special, a Mocha pancake. Literally coffee spilled on pancake but better. They have some delicious burritos and lighter fares. There’s usually a line but put your name down, help yourself to some free coffee in their orange mug or order a Bacon and Egg drink while you wait for your table.

Even get a chance to stay at the Gaylord Texan or Omni Hotel. They both were fantastic.

I’m sure some of you are wondering why I’m writing this but I have some news for you.

We are moving to Texas!

Read it again.

This was probably one of the hardest decisions we’ve made. We looked at every option including moving closer to DC.

This wasn’t an easy 4 months. There were a lot of tears shed, indecisive decision making, even a declined offer, lots of flights to Dallas and back, not to mention a ton of sacrifices we’re making. We will be moving further from our families. But giving up our dream home was probably the hardest for me. I love my home, the huge back yard we created just for our dogs, the sweat, blood and tears that went into building this thing we thought would be our forever humble abode.

Then I realized, life doesn’t always go as planned. It never has. I read this quote somewhere.

If we’re meant to stay in one place, we’d have roots instead of feet…

This couldn’t be more true. I’ve always lived life in the craziest ways even my family thought wouldn’t be possible. That deaf girl? I went to an out of state college. I gave up my life in NJ to be with Justin in Virginia. I’m traveling the world. I’m constantly seeking greater things ahead and what life has to offer.

With that being said, I’m looking forward to our adventures in the big state of Texas!

We will miss everyone and the memories created with our friends and family. Virginia is a place I truly believe for lovers and will forever hold a place in my heart.
